About The Author

David B. Jacobs is a scientist, meditation teacher, and lifelong student of consciousness whose work bridges yoga philosophy and modern biomedical science. His journey began in early adulthood through formal training at the Human Dimensions Institute, where he studied consciousness expansion, holistic philosophy, and spiritual experience under respected teachers. This foundation later deepened through initiation into the Himalayan tradition by Sri Swami Rama, shaping a daily meditation practice that has continued for decades and informs both his personal life and professional work.

Alongside his spiritual training, Dr. Jacobs pursued an extensive academic career in biomedical sciences. He earned both a Master’s degree in Natural Science and a Ph.D. in Experimental Pathology, following guidance to unite inner practice with rigorous scientific inquiry. He has held teaching and research positions at several medical institutions, including the University of Rochester, Wayne State University, The Chicago Medical School, and SUNY Downstate, where he taught medical pharmacology and biochemistry while mentoring graduate and doctoral students. His work has been supported by National Institutes of Health funding and recognized through keynote presentations, national conferences, and media interviews. Drawing from childhood experiences, advanced scientific study, and long-term meditation practice under Swami Rama, his book Meditation: Diamond Bridge Connecting Waking, Dreaming, Deep Sleep, and Beyond reflects a unified approach to understanding consciousness, human potential, and self-realization.
